The beauties of nature and the landscape, historical and cultural
aspects, and the archaeological and artistic heritage all make Lake
Bracciano a very popular tourist venue.
The lake, which
forms a water reserve for Rome, boasts crystal clear waters that are
ideal for bathing and for a number of water sports such as swimming,
sailing, windsurf, canoeing, dragon boating and diving.
Canoeing and sailing are the most popular sports practised on the lake,
as we can see from the many clubs located on its shores.
All cycling lovers, including those
less interested in competitions, can take a ride all the way around the
lake. A convenient cycling path is now being completed, and is
available for some stretches near Trevignano.
The only
difficult climb (just a few hundred metres) is the one leading to Borgo
di Vicarello, a picturesque cluster of rural houses with a single small
traditional-style trattoria.
The zone between Lake Bracciano and Lake Martignano is crossed by very many unpaved roads, an ideal place for excursions by mountain bike and on horseback.
Then there are many specialities of local cuisine, with fish being the main protagonist.
The most appetising items are eel and filet of perch, whitefish,
broccoli, mushrooms, game and white wine, prepared and served in the
many restaurants around the lake.
